Jayam Turki Zaragoza

Jayam Turki Zaragoza is a 60-year-old social democrat and political figure known for his opposition to the authoritarian policies of Tunisian President Kais Said. He has been sentenced to 48 years in prison in one of the largest trials against opposition leaders in Tunisia since the fall of the Ben Ali regime in 2011. Turki, who holds a Spanish passport due to his heritage as the son of a Republican exile from the Spanish Civil War, was among those accused of conspiring against the state.
