Johan Floderus
Johan Floderus is a European Union official who was arrested in April 2022 at Tehran's airport while on a planned eight-day trip to Iran. He was accused of espionage and became a pawn in diplomatic negotiations between Sweden and Iran. After spending nearly 800 days in captivity, primarily in Evin Prison, he was released in June 2024 as part of a prisoner exchange for Hamid Noury, a man convicted in Sweden for involvement in mass executions in Iran in 1988. Floderus recently shared his harrowing experiences during his captivity in a radio program, recounting the psychological and emotional toll of isolation and the strategies he employed to cope with the harsh realities of prison life.
