Jordi Savall
Jordi Savall is a renowned Spanish conductor, viol player, and musicologist, celebrated for his contributions to early music and his efforts to revive historical works. Born in 1941 in Barcelona, he has dedicated his life to the performance and study of ancient music, particularly from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Savall has founded several ensembles, including Hesperion XXI and Le Concert des Nations, and has gained international acclaim for his interpretations of classical masterpieces. Recently, he has been in the spotlight for his ambitious project to present all nine of Beethoven's symphonies at the Wiener Konzerthaus, a venture that took over five years of meticulous preparation.
