Jorge Luis Hauat
Jorge Luis Hauat, known as Jorge Babu, was a Brazilian politician and former civil police officer, who served as a city councilor and state deputy in Rio de Janeiro. He is best remembered for creating the holiday of São Jorge in the city, which later became a state holiday. His political career, which began in 2000, was marked by significant electoral success, including his election to the city council in 2004 and the state assembly in 2006. However, Babu's career was also marred by numerous legal troubles, including investigations and convictions for various crimes, leading to his expulsion from the Workers' Party and subsequent imprisonment. He attempted to return to public life in 2024 but faced legal barriers that ultimately prevented his candidacy.
