Joseph Banks was an English botanist and naturalist known for his role in the first voyage of Captain James Cook to the Pacific Ocean. He is renowned for his extensive botanical collections and for being one of the first Europeans to study and document the flora of Australia and the Pacific Islands, significantly contributing to the field of botany in the 18th century.
