Tom Hart Dyke

Tom Hart Dyke is a British plant hunter and botanist known for his adventurous spirit and passion for flora. In 2000, while searching for unknown orchids in the Colombian jungle, he and his friend Paul Winder were kidnapped by guerrilla forces, leading to a harrowing nine-month ordeal. During captivity, Tom's love for plants provided him with mental escape, and he envisioned a garden that later became a reality with the opening of The World Garden at his family's estate in Kent. His experiences in Colombia profoundly shaped his life and work, fostering a deep appreciation for nature.
