Juan Luis Lluveres

Juan Luis Lluveres is the president of the Unión Nacional de Productores de Cebolla, representing over 500 onion producers in the Dominican Republic. Recently, he led a protest in front of the Palacio Nacional, demanding that the government pay a debt of RD$ 205 million owed to onion producers due to complications arising from the 2022-2023 harvesting period and unauthorized imports that impacted local prices. Lluveres articulated the struggles of the farmers, emphasizing their three-year wait for compensation and the financial hardships they have faced as a result.
