Juan Parra del Riego

Juan Parra del Riego was a celebrated Peruvian poet, who gained recognition at the young age of 19 for his work 'Canto a Barranco', which won him first prize at the inaugural Juegos Florales in the Barranco district in 1913. His collection of twelve sonnets idealized the beauty and melancholy of Barranco, particularly focusing on the iconic Puente de los Suspiros. His poignant verses capture both romantic and tragic elements, reflecting the bridge's complex history.
