Karl I.
Karl I. of Austria was the last Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, reigning from 1916 until the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918. His reign was marked by efforts to negotiate peace during World War I and attempts to restore his rule in Hungary after being exiled. He passed away in 1922 in Madeira, Portugal, but his legacy continues through his descendants and the recent rediscovery of the family's lost jewels, including the famous Florentine diamond.
