Karl Johanning

Karl Johanning was a German brewer who played a significant role in the establishment of Costa Rica's brewing industry in the late 19th century. He founded a brewery in San José in 1868, as part of a government initiative to promote beer consumption as an alternative to liquor, particularly during a coffee crisis. His contributions helped shape the early landscape of brewing in Costa Rica.
