Kemel Tokayev
Kemel Tokayev was a Soviet soldier who served during World War II, having been drafted into the army in 1942. He quickly rose to the position of platoon commander in the 226th Rifle Division and later served in the 7th Guards Tank Regiment after being wounded. Tokayev was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II class for his bravery and heroism in battles on Polish territory. He is also the father of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the current President of Kazakhstan. His wartime experiences and the suffering he witnessed were documented in his book 'The Soldier Went to War.' Recently, a wartime commendation sheet for Kemel Tokayev was made publicly available, which had previously been archived by the Russian Ministry of Defense, highlighting his contributions and the recognition he received.
