Khayr ad-Din Barberousse

Khayr ad-Din Barberousse, also known as Redbeard, was a prominent Ottoman admiral and privateer who played a significant role in the naval warfare of the Mediterranean during the 16th century. He is best remembered for his successful campaigns against European powers, particularly during his alliance with the French king Francis I. His fleet was instrumental in various battles, including the infamous attack on Nice in 1543, which left a lasting mark on the region's history.
