King Gyanendra

King Gyanendra, the last king of Nepal, ruled from 2001 until the monarchy was abolished in 2008. His reign was marked by political strife and civil unrest, particularly after he assumed direct control of the government in 2005, suspending the constitution and dismissing the parliament. Gyanendra's efforts to restore royal power ultimately failed, leading to the establishment of a federal democratic republic in Nepal.
