
Kirill of Moscow
Kirill of Moscow, born Vladimir Mikhailovich Gundyayev on November 20, 1946, is the current Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus', having held the position since 2009. He is known for his strong support of the Russian government's policies and has been a controversial figure in the Orthodox Church due to his close ties with political leadership. Kirill is recognized for his efforts to promote the Russian Orthodox Church globally, as well as for his involvement in interfaith dialogue, including a historic meeting with Pope Francis in 2016, which aimed to improve relations between the Catholic and Orthodox communities.
