Konstantīns Pēkšēns was a prominent Latvian architect and engineer born in 1884 in Mazsalaca. He graduated from the Riga Polytechnic Institute and dedicated his life to the development of Riga, contributing significantly to the city's architectural landscape with over 280 designed buildings. Pēkšēns was instrumental in enhancing construction quality in the city, particularly focusing on sanitary standards and building density through his active participation in various technical commissions. His company specialized in central heating systems and became the largest of its kind in Riga before World War I. Although he shifted towards theoretical work and urban planning in his later years, his legacy in Latvian architecture and engineering remains impactful, influencing future urban development initiatives in Riga and beyond.
