
Jānis Krastiņš
Jānis Krastiņš (born 1943) is a prominent Latvian architect and architectural theorist, known for his extensive work in the field of architectural history. He is a professor at Riga Technical University and a full member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. Krastiņš has authored numerous books on architecture and has been recognized for his contributions to the study of 19th and 20th-century architecture in Riga, including receiving the Great Medal from the Latvian Academy of Sciences in 1998 for his efforts in promoting the inclusion of Riga's historical center in the UNESCO World Heritage List. He was recently in the news for his lecture on the intricacies of Italian Art Nouveau architecture.
