Krešimir Ćosić
Krešimir Ćosić was a legendary Croatian basketball player and coach, born on November 26, 1948, in Zagreb. He moved to Zadar as a child and quickly became a star in the local basketball scene, leading his team to multiple championships by the age of 21. In 1969, he made a groundbreaking move to the United States to play for Brigham Young University, where he became the first non-American to earn All-American honors. His influence extended beyond the court; upon returning to Croatia, he translated the Book of Mormon and helped establish the Mormon Church in the region. A decorated player for the Yugoslav national team, Ćosić won numerous medals, including gold at the 1980 Olympics. He later became a notable diplomat, advocating for Croatian recognition during the war in the 1990s. He passed away on May 25, 1995, leaving behind a legacy as one of Croatia's greatest sports figures and a symbol of national pride.
