
Kurt von Schuschnigg
Kurt von Schuschnigg was an Austrian politician and lawyer who served as the Chancellor of Austria from 1934 until 1938. He is best known for his efforts to maintain Austria's independence in the face of rising Nazi influence and pressure from Adolf Hitler. Schuschnigg attempted to uphold Austria's sovereignty through diplomatic means but ultimately faced the annexation of Austria by Germany in March 1938, after which he was imprisoned and forced into exile.
