
Lars Vilks
Lars Vilks was a Swedish artist known for his controversial depiction of the Prophet Muhammad as a dog, which ignited widespread protests and threats against his life. Following the publication of his drawing in 2007, he lived under police protection due to multiple assassination attempts, including a violent attack at a freedom of expression event in Copenhagen in 2015. Vilks remained a staunch advocate for artistic freedom until his death in a car accident in 2021.
