Laya Sallou was a Burkinabè soldier born in 1912 in Sibé, who tragically became one of the victims of the Thiaroye massacre on December 1, 1944. Recently, he was posthumously recognized as 'mort pour la France' by the French government, a significant acknowledgment of the injustice he and other African soldiers faced during the colonial period.
