Lena Estrada Añokazi
Lena Estrada Añokazi is an indigenous Uitoto leader and sustainability expert, recently appointed as Colombia's Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, succeeding Susana Muhamad. With a background in political science and a PhD in sustainability, she has served as the director of the Augusto Ramírez Ocampo diplomatic academy, becoming the first woman from an indigenous community to hold this position. Estrada Añokazi is recognized for her work with various indigenous organizations and has played a significant role in promoting environmental issues, including efforts to reduce deforestation in the Amazon and advocate for the rights of Indigenous peoples within the framework of climate change negotiations.
