Leo Friday

Leo Friday is the Grand Chief of the Mushkegowuk Council, representing First Nations communities in the western James Bay region of Ontario. He has been actively involved in advocating for Indigenous rights and has recently been in the news for his role in consultations with the Canadian government regarding the development of the Ring of Fire region, emphasizing the importance of respecting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the need for meaningful consultation with Indigenous communities.
