Louis J. Marinelli is a former leader of the Yes California movement, which sought California's independence. His leadership faced controversy, including allegations of foreign influence due to financial ties with a Russian national. After moving to Russia in 2016, he lost prominence in the independence movement, which was subsequently rebranded and revitalized under Marcus Ruiz Evans as CalExit.
