
Luís Fernandes
Luís Fernandes has recently been appointed as the new director-general of the Direcção-Geral da Administração Escolar (DGAE) in Portugal, following a governmental reshuffle. He brings a wealth of experience in education, having previously served as the director of the Training Center of the Association of Schools of Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde since June 2019. Fernandes holds multiple master's degrees in Education, specializing in School Administration and Curriculum Development, and has a background in Basic Education. His notable past roles include directing the Agrupamento de Escolas de Freixo and serving on the Pedagogical Advisory Board for the Teacher Academy under the European Commission. His appointment comes at a critical time for the DGAE, which is responsible for the placement of teachers in Portugal.
