Madre Laura Montoya, born in 1874 in Jericó, Antioquia, was a pioneering Colombian nun and educator, known for her work in promoting education for indigenous peoples and the marginalized. She founded the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate and Saint Catherine of Siena, dedicating her life to improving the lives of the underprivileged. Her dedication to social justice and education earned her recognition, and she was canonized by the Catholic Church in 2013, becoming Colombia's first saint.
