Mahmoud Azour

Mahmoud Azour is a nine-year-old boy who became a poignant symbol of the suffering endured by children in war-torn regions, specifically after being severely injured in a bombing in Gaza in March 2024. His portrait, captured by Palestinian photographer Samar Abu Elouf, won the World Press Photo of the Year 2025, highlighting his story of resilience as he adapts to life after losing both arms while trying to help others during an attack. Now residing in Doha, Mahmoud dreams of living a normal life like any other child his age.
