Mākereti Papakura
Mākereti Papakura was a pioneering Māori anthropologist and the first known indigenous woman to study at the University of Oxford. She is renowned for her efforts in preserving and promoting Māori culture during the early 20th century, and her legacy was honored through the recent gifting of a restored Māori carving to the British Council.
