Mamedali Agaev is the former director of the Satire Theater in Moscow, having held the position from 1992 until his resignation in 2021 after a long tenure that began in 1985. He is originally from Azerbaijan and was recognized by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, with the prestigious Dostlug Order for his efforts in fostering Russian-Azerbaijani relations. Recently, Agaev has been in the news for being accused of embezzling approximately 20 million rubles through a scheme involving fake authorship contracts, which has led to serious legal charges against him.
