Maria Koepcke was a renowned scientist and researcher at the Natural History Museum in Lima, Peru. She, alongside her husband Hans-Wilhelm, was known for her contributions to the study of the Amazon rainforest and its avian species. Tragically, she is remembered for her last journey with her daughter Juliane on December 24, 1971, when they were aboard a plane that crash-landed, leading to Juliane's miraculous survival.
