
Mario Urquía
Mario Urquía is a lawyer and member of the Libertad y Refundación (Libre) party, recently appointed as the new head of the Foro Nacional de Convergencia (Fonac) on October 28. He succeeds Omar Rivera, who held the position since January 2020. Urquía has a notable background, having been designated by the Colegio de Abogados de Honduras as a representative for the selection of Supreme Court magistrates in 2022. Prior to his new role, he served as the legal manager for the Municipality of San Pedro Sula and ran for the position of Attorney General in 2023. The Fonac is a civil society organization that monitors national development plans and public management.
