Mark Pennington is a prominent product designer known for his role as a director at Formway Furniture for over 20 years, where he gained acclaim for designing the Life chair. His work is rooted in human-centered design, which has greatly influenced his stepson, Sam Bridgewater, in the development of nutritious food solutions for aged care. Pennington's personal health struggles with cancer and the challenges he faced with swallowing regular food inspired Bridgewater and his business partner to create The Pure Food Co, addressing the needs of seniors in care.
