Marylin Alvarez

Marylin Alvarez is a 50-year-old cosmetologist living in the Bahia neighborhood of Havana, Cuba. She, along with her family, has had to adapt to severe power outages and fuel shortages that have plagued the island. With the government halting the supply of cooking gas, Alvarez has creatively turned to a charcoal stove for cooking. Despite the challenges, she strives to maintain a semblance of normalcy for her family, which includes her husband and two teenage daughters, finding innovative solutions to their daily struggles.
