Matheus Ferrero

photographer Brazil

Matheus Ferrero is a Brazilian photographer who, in 2017, took a photograph of Larissa Nery that later went viral and was misappropriated in a political controversy in India. Initially unaware of the photograph's widespread usage, Ferrero was taken aback when the image was used in a press conference by Indian politician Rahul Gandhi to allege electoral fraud. Like Nery, Ferrero has never visited India and has expressed feelings of invasion and confusion as his work is unexpectedly connected to international political discourse.
