Matteo Pozzoli

Matteo Pozzoli was a fellow pilot in the Italian Air Force who survived the 1997 crash of the Siai 208 aircraft, which claimed the life of his colleague Maurizio Poggiali. After the incident, Pozzoli faced legal challenges regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash, ultimately being convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Tragically, his life came full circle when he died in an aviation accident while working as a firefighter in 2022, echoing the fate he had narrowly escaped years earlier.
