Matthew G. Axelson was a U.S. Navy sailor who served as a Sonar Technician (Surface) 2nd Class and was part of SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1. He was tragically killed in action during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005, alongside his fellow SEALs, including Lt. Michael Murphy.
