Maykelis Jackeline Borges Ortuño

Maykelis Jackeline Borges Ortuño is a 26-year-old Venezuelan woman currently facing a serious threat to her health and that of her unborn child while detained at the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence in Caracas. Detained since January 29, her case has drawn attention from human rights organizations due to the risk of miscarriage attributed to the conditions of her detention. Initially reported missing, Borges was apprehended alongside her friend Eudi Jesús Andrade Boscán, and her family asserts that she is not politically active nor affiliated with any political party, instead relying on small businesses to support herself.
