Melissa Auf Der Maur is a Canadian musician and photographer, best known as the bassist for the alternative rock bands Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins. She joined The Smashing Pumpkins as a replacement for D’Arcy Wretzky during the band's final tour in 2000 and played a role in their album 'Machina/The Machines of God.' Auf Der Maur has also pursued a successful solo career and continues to be involved in various musical projects.
