Bassem Khandaqji
Bassem Khandaqji is a 42-year-old Palestinian journalist and author who was recently released from an Israeli prison after spending nearly half of his life incarcerated. Convicted in 2004 for masterminding a suicide bombing, Khandaqji continued to write during his imprisonment, producing works such as the critically acclaimed novel 'A Mask, The Color of the Sky.' His recent release came as part of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, but he now faces challenges as he lives in a hotel in Cairo, separated from his family who are unable to visit him in the West Bank.
