Merardo Palacios

Merardo Palacios is a former police commissioner from Paraguay, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in acts of torture. His conviction, alongside ex-minister Walter Bower, stemmed from the abuse of police officers under their authority at a police station in Asunción. Despite attempts by his defense attorney to seek a review of his preventative measures, the court upheld his imprisonment.
