Miep Gies was a Dutch woman who is best known for her role in helping the Frank family during their years in hiding from the Nazis. Born in 1909 in Vienna, Austria, she moved to the Netherlands and became an ally of the Jewish community. Gies and her husband provided food and support to Anne Frank and her family while they were concealed in the secret annex.
