Mirtha Gutiérrez

Mirtha Gutiérrez is a Honduran sociologist and human rights advocate who recently assumed the role of Minister of Social Development (Sedesol) as of June 28, 2025, appointed by President Xiomara Castro. Prior to this position, she served as the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Human Rights and held a role focused on development policy within Sedesol. Gutiérrez is engaged to Ricardo Arriaga, the brother of Cortés legislator Scherly Arriaga, and is committed to advancing public policies that enhance social protection systems, ensuring the fulfillment of social, economic, cultural, and environmental rights for marginalized communities.
