Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus
Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus was a prominent Jesuit professor and poet of the Baroque era, known for his Latin poetry that captured the cultural essence of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. He served as a professor at Vilnius University from 1627 and is often referred to as the 'Sarmatian Horace' due to his significant contributions to literature. His collection 'Lyrikos knygos' (1625) gained him recognition across Europe, even impressing Pope Urban VIII.
