Murat II

Murat II was the Ottoman Sultan from 1421 to 1444 and again from 1446 until his death in 1451. He is remembered for his military campaigns in the Balkans and for consolidating Ottoman power during a time of internal strife. His marriage to Mara Branković was a strategic alliance that aimed to stabilize relations with Serbia, although it was marred by his personal preferences and lack of affection for her. Murat II's reign saw the strengthening of the Ottoman Empire, setting the stage for future conquests.
