Nawar Jiménez

Nawar Jiménez was a dedicated social leader and human rights defender in Colombia, particularly known for her advocacy for the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community and sex workers. She was the legal representative of the Organización Mariposas de la Noche, which aimed to empower women, especially transgender individuals, and combat discrimination. Nawar participated in various protests, including the symbolic march organized by No Es Hora De Callar, where she vividly expressed her identity by marching in high heels. Tragically, Nawar was murdered in May 2025, becoming a victim of transfeminicide, highlighting the ongoing violence against the LGBTIQ+ community in Colombia and the urgent need for systemic changes to ensure their safety and rights.
