Nelu Ploieşteanu, born Ion Dumitrache on December 16, 1950, was a celebrated Romanian lăutărească music singer. He grew up in a family of musicians and started playing the accordion at a young age. Ploieşteanu's career took off in the 1970s, performing in various venues and eventually touring Europe. He died on April 2, 2021, after a severe battle with COVID-19.
