Nicholas McKay

Nicholas McKay was a young minister who played a pivotal role in introducing basketball to Indiana after witnessing Dr. James Naismith demonstrate the game at a YMCA. Inspired by the sport, he returned to his community in Crawfordsville, Indiana, where he facilitated the creation of the first basketball hoops, thus helping to spread the game throughout the state and laying the groundwork for Indiana's deep-rooted basketball culture.
