
Nicolae de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen
Nicolae de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen was born on August 5, 1903, and was the second son of King Ferdinand I and Queen Maria of Romania. He studied at Eton College and the Royal Naval School in Wembley, UK. After the death of King Carol I, he moved with his family to Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest. Despite his royal lineage, he never wished to become king and was part of the Regency established in 1926 during the minority of King Mihai I. He married Ioana Doletti in secret in 1931 but was later forced to renounce his princely rights and live under the name Nicolae Barna. He passed away on June 9, 1978.
