
Nicolae I
Nicolae I was the Tsar of Russia from 1825 until his death in 1855, known for his conservative policies and his role as the 'gendarme of Europe.' His reign was marked by efforts to suppress revolutionary movements and maintain the stability of the Russian Empire, as well as his desire to expand Russian influence in Eastern Europe, particularly in the territories of the Ottoman Empire, including the Principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia, which later became part of modern Romania.
