Nicolai Ceaușescu

Nicolai Ceaușescu was the General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party and the country's president from 1967 until his overthrow and execution in 1989. His regime was marked by severe repression, widespread human rights abuses, and a cult of personality. Ceaușescu's authoritarian rule ultimately led to significant public discontent, culminating in a popular uprising against his government.
