Nicole Schilling is a pioneering figure in the Bundeswehr, as she became the first woman in history to serve as the deputy to the Chief of Defence, General Carsten Breuer. Beginning her military career in 1993 at the Air Force Medical School, she quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the first female three-star general in 2024. Schilling is known for her commitment to increasing female representation in the military and has previously led the department responsible for the operational readiness and support of the armed forces.
